Gracie * Sunrise Senior Portraits at New Smyrna Beach *

Apparently it’s Fall (I’m not totally convinced), so before the Summer is too far gone, I want to share with you Gracie’s sunrise senior portraits at New Smyrna Beach! Gracie was a TROOPER. She got up at 5:00 AM to get ready and meet me at the beach, an hour away from Orlando. It was so worth it though, because we had the softest, most glowing golden light. This kind of light is just not possible in the middle of the day, so that’s why I always recommend shooting at sunrise or sunset (unless of course, the rain changes our plans!).

I love that Gracie wore an all white two-piece outfit for her first set of pictures. It looked so great with the soft, golden light, her long blonde hair, and glowing skin! I may have made her twirl a couple of times :) Every outfit that Gracie chose looked so great on the beach. I loved her long dress that she purposefully picked out to wear in the water. It was perfect! I’m a big fan of your outfits making sense with your surroundings, which is why I always offer to consult with my clients on wardrobe before the shoot. In my opinion, it doesn’t look good in pictures when someone is very formally dressed, and in the middle of a field or at the beach. Those two things just don’t match up, and don’t look natural. Instead, fabrics that move, ripped jeans, and no shoes makes a lot more sense at the beach or in a natural setting, like a field or woods. If you DO want to dress up for your shoot, I suggest going somewhere that fits the formality, like an urban background somewhere downtown, or a nice venue.

One of my favorite parts of the shoot was that Lily, Gracie’s sister, helped her get ready for her sunrise senior portraits at New Smyrna Beach! How sweet is it that she woke up at 5AM for her sister’s senior portraits?! She even braided Gracie’s hair into the coolest side braid, and it took all of about 10 minutes! I took Lily’s senior pictures a couple of years ago, and they are still some of my most favorite and unique portraits to date (check them out here).  I knew Gracie’s pictures would be just as great, and it was so fun for me to capture both of the sisters together. After they left, I may or may not have taken a quick dip in the ocean! Needless to say, it was an early, but great morning.

Noelle * Colorful Garden Senior Photo Shoot in Orlando Florida *

It’s been such a crazy week in Florida because of hurricane Irma, so I thought I’d share Noelle’s colorful garden senior photo shoot in Orlando Florida to brighten up your day! These pictures are so sunny, happy, and colorful, and just what we need for this week! :)

We took Noelle’s senior pictures at Mead Gardens and Leu Gardens (I’m praying they held up alright during the hurricane!). Noelle wanted pictures to match her energetic and free-spirited personality, and she also expressed her love for anything lush and colorful! She LOVES flowers, so why not go to my two favorite gardens in Orlando for her senior pictures?! I share her love for all things tropical and colorful, so I totally understood what she had in mind.

Noelle chose the perfect bright and colorful outfits for her senior portrait session. I love the royal blue dress against the white pergola and palms, her red shirt next to the green bamboo, and her baby blue top with all of the different colored flowers at Mead Gardens. She did such an amazing job picking her outfits, but not without the help of her best friends! Best. Friends. Are. The. Best. They make my job and the shoot so much more fun and easy. I can’t say it enough! I love that one of her best friends, Caitlin, came along for the shoot because I took her senior portraits just a couple of weeks before! (Check out Caitlin’s pictures here!). The shot of Caitlin with the clothing hanger in her mouth, while she is carrying the rest of Noelle’s outfits is a true “behind the scenes” moment! And why I’m so thankful my seniors have sweet friends who are willing to help out, and jump in on a couple of shots! Caitlin was so great during the shoot, reassuring Noelle that she looked amazing and that I would help her through the poses. Basically, having veteran LMP seniors on shoots is the BOMB.

Make sure to scroll down to the end for my favorite photos from Noelle’s colorful garden senior photo shoot in Orlando Florida. We did our last leg of the shoot at Mead Gardens, and met an Italian boy that was their age. We even asked him to hop in on some pictures! :) He was hilarious and of course thought the girls were beautiful! I also love the shot of the three girls sitting on the bench in front of the green house. Talk about the perfect setting, perfect lighting, perfect colorful outfits, and the most fun friends! It was also so cute that they all had tan skin and long blonde hair – so very Florida! :)

Exploring New York City * My Life *

A couple of months ago, my friend Heather and I had a blast exploring New York City for a couple of days. She had to go for a work conference, so I tagged along for the long weekend! We had SO much fun and had the nicest hosts who let us stay at their place in the Financial District, and we also met up with some old friends to show us around the city!

We did a lot in four days! We spent some time exploring the Chelsea Market, grabbed some amazing food inside, and then ate it out on the High Line with a pretty view of the city. We shopped around Soho, Chelsea, and Greenwich Village, and ate at the most DELICIOUS restaurants. Then, we went into Brooklyn, in the Williamsburg area, and had more fun exploring! We even went to a rooftop party at some of my old college friend’s house! Then, we walked the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset and took lots of pictures. Heather has been wanting to learn a little bit about photography, so she brought a DSLR for the trip, and I got to teach her some photography tips and tricks! New York was the perfect place to practice shooting manually, and practice some photography concepts. Thanks for letting me take lots of pictures of you, Heath! And for snapping a couple of me too!

Heather and I travel so well together (check out our craziest adventure here) because we love to eat at the best local restaurants when we are in a different city. No chains!! One of my favorite meals of all time was Chinese Tuxedo, a restaurant in Chinatown set in an old opera house. The fried eggplant is what dreams are made of. Our other favorites were Buvette for brunch, the Milk Bar for a sweet snack, the Nomad Hotel, and Levain Bakery for the best cookies. We didn’t have a bad meal.

Basically, we ate, explored, ubered, and shopped our way through the city. That’s pretty much how I love to travel! We also did the classic stops at Times Square, Central Park, and also took some time to appreciate the meaningful 9/11 Memorial. Lastly, we went to a concert at the Mercury Lounge! Needless to say, we didn’t waste a minute. And I really hope to go back soon! Thanks for checking out my post, and I hope it helps when you are exploring New York City! :)
